FAQ
Common questions
Don't see yours? Tap Ask Selly in the corner, or call (208) 770-0661.
What areas do you serve?
Hayden, Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls and Rathdrum, plus Sandpoint, Spirit Lake, Athol, Kellogg and the Silver Valley, St. Maries, Plummer and Bonners Ferry. If you're not sure you're in range, ask. We'll tell you straight.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Selkirk Electric & Integration is licensed and insured for residential and commercial work in Idaho. ID License 068073, Public Works 3071093.
How do I get a quote?
Tell us what you need on the booking page. We'll set up a phone call, a sit-down, or a walk of the job site, whichever fits the job. The first visit and the quote are free, and quotes usually come back in a day or two.
What should I have ready before you come out?
A list of the electrical items you need help with and your ideal timeline for the project. That's it.
Do you pull permits?
Yes. We pull permits on every job that needs one.
Do you warranty your work?
Yes. Our work carries a 1-year warranty.
How can I pay?
Card, check, cash or ACH. We don't offer financing.
Can you update an older home?
Yes. We replace Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels, aluminum wiring and knob and tube, and we do whole-house rewires.
Do you work with builders and general contractors?
It's a big part of what we do. Contractors hire us because we show up when we say, talk clearly, and pass inspection. Email your plans and schedule to dane@selkirkelectric.com and copy admin@selkirkelectric.com, and we'll take it from there.
What does "integration" mean?
It's everything in a home that runs on low voltage and has to work together: whole-home audio, lighting control, cameras and security, network and Wi-Fi. We plan it with the electrical from day one so it's built into the house, not bolted on later.
Can you wire a home built with SIPs or Extreme Panels?
Yes. Structural insulated panels have wire chases built into the foam, so the wiring runs through the panel instead of through drilled studs. It takes planning before the panels are made. Bring us in early and it goes smoothly.
Do you install EV chargers?
Yes, at homes and businesses, including Tesla Wall Connectors and other 240-volt chargers. We check your panel capacity first so the charger doesn't trip anything.
Do you install backup generators?
Yes. We install standby generators (Generac, CAT and other brands) and the transfer equipment that ties them into your panel.
Do you wire shops and pole barns?
All the time. Power, lighting, sub-panels, and whatever your equipment needs.
My power is out or something smells like it's burning. What should I do?
If you see sparks, smoke, or smell burning, shut off the breaker if it's safe to reach and call 911 if there's any sign of fire. Then call us at (208) 770-0661.
Do you do small jobs and repairs?
Yes. Service calls, troubleshooting, panel upgrades, new circuits, fixtures. No job is too small to do right.
When are you open?
The office is open Monday to Friday, 7 am to 5 pm.
